Last summer, we were invited to a lovely Kensington Town House to suggest some ideas for a potential Mirror TV.
The room in question was the perfect blend of modern and classic. The client clearly had great taste in decor.
At the time of our visit, they were using a 32″ TV perched on the mantelpiece. You can see this in the picture below. It really wasn’t the ideal solution, and the client found it quite the eyesore.
After much discussion, we decided on a slightly narrower version of our signature mirror frame. However, this was a little narrower, and had glass fitted to the sides as well as the front face.
Due to the high ceilings, it would have looked odd to have a landscape shaped Mirror TV there. Our design philosophy is to not think about the TV, but think about the type of mirror you’d have on the wall if there wasn’t a TV in the equation. In a room like this, it’s usually a taller portrait mirror.
So we designed this Mirror TV to have the TV at the bottom for the better viewing angle, and the overall height to go beyond the TV size. This meant that when the TV was hidden and switched off, the mirror didn’t look out of place or give a hint of a TV being behind it.
I think if you look at what was there before our visit, you’d agree that we left the room in a better state than when we arrived. Feel free to watch the video below to see the Mirror TV in action.
